Jacob Clarke understands what is happening at impact in the wedge game as well as anyone in the world. His engineering mind developed the equipment that helps the greatest players in the world. Jacob has taken the extra step of understanding the motion. He has worked to answer the question: what must a player do physically to unlock the club’s full features to create an answer for the challenge the game is presenting? From rough to sand to turf interaction to hardpan to launch angles and spin rates, he understands thoroughly what the club can do. He has listened to great players and great instructors to design something that works. So he understands what the player needs to master to optimize the opportunity. He makes the opportunity to put a new shot in the quiver and save a stroke around the green exciting! It’s like he takes them to a new playground where opportunities abound. Their eyes light up at the possibilities!

Jacob does a tremendous job explaining the science behind short game. Once he imparted this knowledge and then showed the players the way it applies on course, my guys were extremely interested. I really enjoyed the explanation from Jacob regarding pitches rolling up the face. The idea of having any disruption from groove to ball really helped with that mindset shift.

I find myself reaching for my 60° around the greens now I’m more likely to chip in than lay the sod over it 😆 Being into the grain doesn’t frighten me anymore I now have a plethora of options around the greens with each club Jacob’s coaching helped me qualify for my first USGA championship in over a decade Before working together I didn’t realize how fundamentally different chipping is than a full swing. It’s not enough just to practice chipping, you have to know how the chipping motion works, how the actual club (bounce) works, and when it works based on certain course conditions. Chipping is fun again!

My confidence has reached new levels after working with Jacob. I’ve always felt chipping was one of the weaker parts of my game and Jacob has helped me tremendously to level up my short game and approach around the greens. Jacob has helped me achieve my goals by helping me create different shots according to different lies while also implementing course management strategies when it comes to hitting shots around the greens. Not only did he teach me different shots to use for different situations, he has improved my technique for more consistent execution which brought in more confidence even in high pressure situations. My biggest takeaway from working with Jacob is making sure I have clean grooves, having the right equipment in your hands and being able to read the situation so that I know what shot is needed is key for elite short game. I’m always excited every time I get to have a lesson with Jacob because I feel like there’s always something new to learn!
